Helpful Tips

Here’s a look at some packing essentials for your trip to Charleston in the cooler months.

Layers
To prepare for a trip to Charleston in January, pack for mild but sometimes cool weather. Layering is key, so include items like long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, a light jacket, and comfortable walking shoes.

A Light Sweater

Conference and meeting space can be chilly so packing a light sweater is a good idea.

Comfortable, Semi-Waterproof Shoes

Historic downtown Charleston is best explored on foot, so pack comfortable shoes and socks as many of the streets are still cobblestone. Also consider shoes that are waterproof or semi-waterproof for rainy weather.
